What to include in your first enquiry
A useful first message explains what you need to establish and why it matters. You do not need a complete case file before contacting us. Start with a short summary; detailed documents can be requested after the purpose and handling arrangements are clear.
Five details that help us assess the request
- Your connection to the matter: for example, party to a dispute, business representative or property owner.
- The fact you need checked, separating what you know from what you suspect.
- The relevant French location and dates, including any uncertainty.
- Any legal deadline and whether a lawyer is already involved.
- Your preferred language, time zone and a safe method and time for a reply.
Illustrative first message
I live outside France and need to clarify a matter concerning a property in Anglet during a specific period. I can provide documents showing my connection to the property. My lawyer needs an initial assessment by [date]. Please reply by email; telephone calls are not convenient. Could you explain whether this question falls within your scope?
Adapt the example to your own situation. It is a communication template, not a description of a real client case.
What not to send at this stage
Do not send passwords, banking credentials, intimate images or an entire archive of third-party information. List the documents you have instead. Preserve originals and do not access someone else’s account to obtain more material.
What happens after you send the form?
We assess whether the request is within scope and whether more information is needed. Where a mission is appropriate, the purpose, proposed work, fees and reporting arrangements are agreed in writing. A message, an automated receipt or an initial discussion is not confirmation that surveillance or another investigation has started.
If a deadline is close, state the exact date; do not assume that an enquiry guarantees availability or suspends a legal time limit. In immediate danger in France, contact the emergency services on 112 rather than waiting for a reply here.
Read about investigations in the French Basque Country and pricing and scope before submitting your request.
Tell us about your situation
Keep your first message brief. Explain the question and your connection to the matter; we will agree how to exchange relevant documents.

Your enquiry has been received. Sending this form does not start an investigation; scope and fees must first be agreed.
